Wanneer je Dubai bezoekt, heb je genoeg verschillende mogelijkheden om te reizen zoals taxi's, bussen en trams die je naar je hotel, favoriete restaurants en attracties brengen. Maar een van de leukste vormen van openbaar vervoer in Dubai is de Palm Monorail, want deze monorail is voor toeristen eigenlijk een attractie! Deze monorail zonder bestuurder is namelijk niet alleen snel, maar biedt ook een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline van Dubai en de Palm Jumeirah.
Wanneer je de Palm Monorail instapt bij de Gateway towers en gaat zitten, zul je merken dat de monorail zich na vertrek snel hoog boven de grond bevindt. Hierdoor heb je nooit last van files met de Palm monorail, maar wel een spectaculair uitzicht op de Palm Jumeirah. Deze wereldberoemde eilandgroep is door de mens ontworpen in de vorm van een palmboom, die je zelfs vanuit de ruimte kunt zien. De Palm monorail reist langs de stam van de palm en ondertussen kun je prachtige foto's maken van de palmbladeren en het water dat zich tussen de bladeren bevindt. Op de bladeren zie je voornamelijk dure dure villa's met een privestrand, waarvan de prijzen in de miljoenen lopen. Er is geen andere plek op aarde waar je zoiets spectaculairs kunt zien! Zonder stops kom je aan bij het Atlantis hotel, nog zo'n icoon van Dubai.
Een van de hoogtepunten van de Palm Jumeirah is het Atlantis hotel, dat zich op het bovenste deel van het Palm Jumeirah eiland bevindt. In dit hotel bevinden zich leuke attracties zoals het waterpark Aquaventure met enorm veel glijbanen en waterattracties en het Lost Chambers aquarium. Wanneer je het Atlantis hotel wilt bezoeken of er wilt verblijven, is de Palm Monorail het perfecte vervoermiddel. Vanuit de monorail heb je een verbluffend uitzicht op het Atlantis hotel en kun je prachitge foto's van het hotel maken.
Because the Palm trunk is slightly shorter than 4 miles, the train-ride length is relatively short at 5 minutes long. There are no real stops along the way so the ride is a continuous one. Although the ride length is short, expect the train frequency to take longer than 5 or 10 minutes. On most days, the Palm monorail is available every 15 to 30 minutes based on riders’ experiences. Buses, in contrast, will usually take much longer to return to a specific stop. The Palm Monorail remains a reliable transportation source when you’re exploring the Palm Jumeirah.
The monorail offers one-way and round-trip tickets for their patrons. If you want to have the versatility of taking a bus or cab back to your hotel, a one-way ticket is a smart and cost-effective way to travel. Alternatively, rely on the Palm monorail to take you into and out of the main city area. The round-trip ticket is discounted compared to the one-way type. The monorail doesn’t have passes, but that might change as the city grows.
The main attraction of this train is seeing the Palm island from above, but developers are looking toward the future. The Palm Monorail may eventually be extended and connected to the Dubai metro. Dubai continues to astound visitors with its beauty and innovation, and the train is no exception. These monorail lines don’t run at night so plan your schedule accordingly. If you’re out past 22:00 hrs., you’ll need to find an alternative transport back to your hotel. Taxis are more than happy to drive you to any destination.
There is huge car parking at the Palm Gateway station where you can park your car for free.
