The Dubai Marina is an artificially constructed marina surrounded by skyscrapers, including the spectacular Cayan tower that rotates 90 degrees around its axis. A long promenade of about 7 kilometers long, called the Dubai Marina Walk, runs along the Dubai Marina. Along this Dubai Marina Walk you can walk, eat and drink or shop. You will also find many companies that offer tours such as cruises, the Dubai Marina Mall and access to JBR beach and the Jumeirah Beach Walk. The Dubai Marina Walk is very popular with tourists and particularly during weekends it can get very crowded here.
There are around 200 restaurants along the promenade in Dubai Marina, so there is plenty of choice. During the day it can be hot here, but at most restaurants you can sit inside enjoying the air conditioning. However, it is much more fun to sit outside on one of the many terraces. You will be kept cool because most places are covered and therefore in the shade and some restaurants even have mobile air conditioners at the tables. In the evening it is a lot busier in Dubai Marina, because a lot of tourists come over here to eat and drink. There’s a lot of choice of restaurants and you can find Mexican, Afghan, Japanese, Persian, Chinese and Italian restaurants amongs others. The Dubai Marina is a great place to enjoy in the evening and it is definitely recommended to eat here between all the illuminated skyscrapers.
From Dubai Marina you can make all kinds of boat trips; along the promenade you will find several companies where you can choose from a wide choice of boat trips. You can opt for a cruise with a traditional Dhow like you can also do on Dubai creek. In the evening the Dhow is remarkably illuminated and you can enjoy a dinner during the cruise. Dining on a boat trip is also possible with the dinner cruise, a large ship where you can sit inside and outside on the upper deck. It is also possible to take a boat trip with a fast RIB boat, a catamaran or speed boats of different sizes. You sail through the beautiful Dubai Marina but also along the Palm Jumeirah or even further to the Burj Al Arab, depending on the boat trip you choose. A cheap alternative to a boat trip is the Dubai ferry. With the Dubai ferry you can take a cruise from the Dubai Marina past the Atlantis hotel on the palm and back again. And if you don’t feel like walking along the promenade you can sail from one side of the Dubai Marina to the other side for a small fee using an abra (water taxi). You will need an NOL card, but they are available everywhere.
Along the promenade itself you will not find many shops, but mainly restaurants and supermarkets. However, regularly a market is organized at Dubai Marina, where you can buy jewelry, shoes, clothing and handicrafts. Most shops around Dubai Marina can be found in the Dubai Marina Mall, which is located near the Dubai Marina Walk. Here you will find more than a hundred stores including large, well-known brands such as Superdry, Adidas, Lego, Skechers, Desigual, H & M, Sunglass hut and much more. In the Dubai Marina Mall you will also find a cinema being called the Reel Cinema Dubai Marina Mall.
