Visit the Palm Jumeirah wonder

Visiting Dubai may be a dream come true as you gaze off into the Persian Gulf, but this rising city has even more to explore on Palm Jumeirah, which is called the 8th wonder of the world by some people. This archipelago extends into the Gulf and has given Dubai world fame: you will see the Palm island on many souvenirs and postal cards! So you can’t afford to visit Dubai without a visit to the Palm Jumeirah!

Eight Wonder of the World

Visiting the Palm Jumeirah is a treat in itself because the entire archipelago is man made. In the early 2000s, the government approved construction plans to create a breakwater that is in a palm shape. The concept behind the palm shape was to increase the coastline’s size while contributing to healthy sea life with areas for tidal creatures. The palm fronds are packed with homes, hotels and retail facilities that support a rapidly growing economy. You can take a walk around just one frond of this wonder, and it will take you a long time to reach the tip!

Enjoy the view of the Palm by taking the monorail

You might be used to renting a car while you’re on vacation, but parking is at a premium across Palm Jumeirah. So it’s better to take a taxi or bus, but the best way to explore the Palm is to ride the Palm Monorail. For a small fee, you can glide above the ground and take a close look at the vast palm-frond arms. The view is amazing and because you don’t have to drive, you’re free to take photos, and capture the moment!

Take a boat tour from the Palm

The crystal-blue water surrounding the archipelago is tempting so get out there on a boat. Yachts, sailboats and speedboats are available for hire all around the fronds. Each touring company has different rates and itineraries so simply research where you want to explore. This area of the Persian Gulf is relatively calm, and you can remain on the water for a long time without a lot of waves dampening the mood. If you’re a snorkeling or scuba-diving fan, select a touring company that knows the best places to explore. This area is unique both above and below the waterline.

Sleeping, eating and partying at the Palm

The entire Palm is dotted with various hotels, but the main one is the Atlantis Hotel. This beautiful hotel is a great sight and you will have a terrific view of the hotel when riding the Palm monorail. But their are other great hotels at the Palm with your room having a view of the fronds and water! Even though Palm Jumeirah began as a simple community for hotels, it’s possible to eat your way around the palm fronds too. Several restaurants are staples in the area with authentic foods from the Middle-East region. And if you enjoy the nightlife the Palm offers nightclubs that open at 9 pm and close in the early morning hours. Several nightclubs that cater to various interests are open every night of the week. From upbeat songs to relaxing, lounge music, there’s something for everyone in Palm Jumeirah.
